2014 Volvo S80 Model Gets A New Look

Volvo has released the 2014 models line up which includes major improvement for some models and a facelift for others. One of Volvo model that is pretty popular in Indonesia is the Volvo S 80 and we are going to take a peek on what’s in store for the all new 2014 Volvo S 80 models.

The new S 80 model has a refreshed looks and comes with equipped with better fuel consumption as well as a substantial weight reduction. Other new technologies available in this new model are Sensus Connected Touch system and enhanced IntelliSafe systems. As a result of Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) which was announced at Frankfurt Auto Show back in 2011, multiple Volvo vehicles will share various modular elements to reduce cost in increase efficiency. The Volvo S80 will get similar updates with Volvo XC70 and Volvo C70.

The bulky characteristic of the old S80 can still be seen but it is more polished and with the addition of more roundly and wider front grille and rectangular Daytime Running light, the car is now looks like any other new car.

The Volvo S80 is available in diesel and gasoline engine from 4 to 6 cylinders with integrated fuel (SFI) / ignition control systems and maximum output ranging from 180 hp to 304 hp for the petrol version and electronically controlled common rail direct injection with maximum output ranging from 115 hp to 215 hp for the diesel version.

The Volvo S80 dimension is 4,854 mm long, 1,861 mm wide and 1,439 mm tall which is just a bit wider but smaller than the 2013 Honda Accord of 4,861 mm long, 1,849 mm wide and 1,465 mm.

The interior of the S80 does not improve much simply because the previous model interior is already top notch. However, notable mention is the Sensus Connected Touch system which is a 7 inch touch screen interface that allows multimedia function and internet connectivity through a smart phone. Optional luxuries are available such as Active High Beam Control (which automatically switches the headlights between high and low beams), ambient lighting for night driving and 3-D navigation.
