Toyota Fortuner Latest Information

Toyota Fortuner is a SUV resulting out of the Toyota IMV (International Multipurpose Vehicle) initiatives aiming at creating common cars for the Asian, African and the US market at the same time. Because of that the design and production line of Fortuner is totally new.

The chassis however, was taken from Toyota Hilux which is famous for its reliability and durability. Toyota Fortuner is classified as seven seater SUV and assembled locally in Indonesia, specifically out of Karawang, West Java.

Even though Toyota Fortuner has an Off Road looks to it, Fortuner drives better in urban area. With engine capacity of 2.7 liter, Fortuner is carrying engine which is somewhat a bit small for it 1,795 kg size. It uses the same engine as Kijang Innova V Luxury type, while the Innova is around 200 kg lighter than the Fortuner.

There is a 4×4 Toyota Fortuner V6 4.0 liter gasoline engine which would fit for off road condition, however, this type of Fortuner is only available for Middle East export market.

For Indonesian market, Toyota Fortuner powered by 2.7 litter 4 cylinders, 16 valves DOHC VVT-i for the gasoline version and 2.5 litter 4 cylinders, 16 valves DOHC D-4D for the diesel version. The fuel system is Electronic Fuel Injection or EFI and Common Rail type.

The whole body is 4,695 mm long, 1,840 mm wide and 1,850 mm tall. It can fit seven people without any problem or discomfort and can carry 65 liter of fuel.

The Interior is unmistakably Toyota with the greige or grey colored dashboard and the interior. The instrument added a touch of luxury with wooden ornament and the Multi Information Display as well as optitron meter completes with digital trip meter and odometer as well as the standard analog speedometer and tachometer. The sound system is AVX audio system consist of 2 DIN Audio Video system which includes a 7 inch LCD and AUX inlet for Ipod or MP3 player.

The safety feature as is standard with Toyota includes front SRS airbag, ABS, Immobilizer, GOA body and Side door impact beam.

The Fortuner TRD Sportivo Limited Edition is the latest addition to the Fortuner family. The Sportivo is powered by 2.5G diesel engine but accessories using Toyota Racing Developmet (TRD) accessory. The Sportivo is available in manual and automatic transmission.

The Toyota Fortuner is available in six color options which are super white, silver, dark grey, grayish brown, blue and black. The car is priced at Rp 370 million for the entry level and Rp 479 million for top of the line.
