If there was ever a car that really built with Indonesian user and for Indonesian road condition in mind it really is the Toyota Avanza. Now with the more expensive new Avanza Veloz, will it adds even more value to what already the best seller car in Indonesia?. Note that all Avanza sold now looks similar to Avanza Veloz so this is really a comparison between the old Avanza model (referred to as Toyota Avanza) and the New Avanza Model (referred to as Avanza Veloz)

Avanza Veloz really improved in terms of aerodynamics and the raw look of the car exterior.
Toyota Avanza is good, has excellent fuel consumption and can carry plenty of passengers. All of this is because the design and production process that happened in cooperation with Daihatsu which been Toyota affiliates since the dawn of time, involves a lot of Indonesian engineer and experts.
Toyota Avanza which means advance in Italian was positioned to become an affordable people carrier. Toyota Innova which replacing Toyota Kijang which was the ultimate people carrier is leaning more toward MPV which by nature is more expensive and no longer represent value for money as well as higher fuel consumption.
Toyota Avanza was first introduced in Gaikindo Auto Expo in 2003, however, Astra as the Sole Distributor for this brand has previously worked very hard to create a buzzword by issuing commercials on papers and television mentioning the name Avanza without ever showing what its actually look like.
These campaign has successfully creates brand awareness. During the first year only it sells more than 100,000 units across Indonesia. Avanza position has not been beaten in term of number of unit sold even by Jazz which has been Honda main arsenal. Avanza is also assembled in Malaysia and sold to Thailand, Philippine, South Africa and even as far as Mexico.

Compared to the Toyota Avanza, the Avanza Veloz, really improved in terms of aerodynamics and the raw look of the car exterior. The main A, B and C pillar stays the same but that’s about it. The two horizontal lines at the front grill provide the distinct Toyota looks and give a more luxury appearance. The radio antennae however can still use some improvement.
From the engine, Avanza Velos is still powered with the same 1.5 liter IL, 4 Cylinder 16 Valve, DOHC VVT-I that powers the Toyota Avanza G 1.5.
