For those looking for serious contender for Mazda Biante and All New Nissan Serena, The Toyota dealers for Indonesia has release a new type of Toyota for 2013. This new eight seater MPV called Toyota Nav1 short for Navigation One is not to be confused with the Na’vi people from the Avatar.
Officially launched in Jakarta on December 11, 2012 the Toyota Nav1 is targeted as upper class MPV. The price range is similar to Toyota Fortuner rather than the famous Toyota Innova. The two models available G A/T and V AT comes with exactly the same engine and model specification with additional luxury option.
This car has actually been available in Indonesia before through general importer and called Toyota Noah. The most noticeable different is that Toyota Nav1 has dual automatic power sliding door like Mazda Biante rather than one like what Noah has. While Noah only sold in Asia, at the moment Toyota Nav1 is only available exclusively for Indonesian market.
Available in 7 speed shift tronic automatic transmission only, the Toyota Nav1 is powered by a 2 liter 3ZR – FAE, 4 cylinder in-line, 16 valves DOHC with Valvematic gasoline engine. The engine is capable of offering 158 PS at 6,200 rpm and 196 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The new Valvematic technology allows proper timing and size of intake valve opening to ensure fuel efficiency. Test shows fuel usage of a little bit more than 13.5 km per liter which is not bad for a car this size. The fuel tank can carry maximum 60 liter of gasoline.
For the exterior, it looks as if Toyota Noah had a face lift. The design is more aggressive and sporty. The luxury head light comes with integrated 4 bulbs, multi-reflectors and projector-type low beams. The large chrome grill with the Nav1 logo attached at the front gives it an elegant look with a design curves slightly similar to the Toyota Alphard.
As for the size, Toyota Nav1 is 4,600 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,850 mm tall which is smaller but a little bit taller than Mazda Biante at 4,715 mm long, 1,770 mm wide and 1,835 mm tall.
The Toyota Nav1 also equipped with side view window with turning signal lamp and the luxurious 15 inch alloy wheels while the rear pretty much similar to Noah with LED tail lights.
The interior available in Baige and Grey is spacious and boxy. Filled with luxury such as Ergonomic Dashboard & Instrument Panel, a 5.8″ LCD TFT Touch Screen Audio System in the middle of the cabin and an extra lounge compartment behind the back seat complete with its cover. The V A/T version added further luxury such as a smart entry and start system, VIP aero kit package, corner sensors and fog lamps.
Dashboard is equipped with a dual din audio complete with LCD TFT touch screen multi information display and dual zone air conditioner control.
Captain seat in the second row has an arm rest and can be rotated up to 180 degrees for flexibility and the third row seat can be folded up completely like the back seat of Toyota Innova for maximum space.
The Toyota Nav1 is available in four color options which are Black, Grey Metallic, Silver Metallic and White Pearl.
The Toyota Nav1 is priced at
Toyota Nav1 G A/T Rp. 381,900,000
Toyota Nav1 V A/T Rp. 401,900,000
