Nissan Frontier Navara Review

Nissan Frontier was introduced to the world in 1997 as a replacement of Nissan Hardbody truck. This model unfortunately was never available in Indonesia. It looks more or less like pick-up version of single cabin Nissan Terrano. Nissan Terrano it self also derrived its design from Nissan Hardbody.

The first generation of Nissan Frontier has a 4 cylinder engine which then replaced in 1999 with 6 cylinder model. In 2000 Nissan Frontier launches its first double cabin or known as cabin crew model in the US which was quiet popular.

In 2003 Nissan Frontier enters Indonesia for the first time by the name of Nissan Frontier D-Cab to signify its double cabin advantage. With engine capacity of 3.0 liter and 4×4 wheel drive, this model are more popular outside Java especially for mining companies.

Nissan Frontier Navara enters Indonesia during the Indonesian International Motor Show in 2007. It was equipped with YD25DDTi common-rail Turbo Intercooler Diesel with 2.5 liter engine capacity which was a bit smaller than its predecessor. Eventhough it has a smaller engine, Nissan Frontier Navara has a more modern design with more features especially safety, comfortability, reliability, spacier cabin and better all terrain performance, off-road or on-road (normal roads). Nissan Frontier Navara is also available in 6 speed manual transmission and 5 speed automatics transmission as well as 4×4 wheel drive.

The commonrail technology has made Nissan Frontier Navara capable of high acceleration and more powerfull compare to its competitors. It was also eqquipped with turbo technology and direct injection. However, the commonrail technology increase the models price tag, it also requires diesel oil with low sulfur specification or what is known in Indonesia as Pertadex or BioSolar.

These types of fuels are not readily available and also more expensive compare to the normal diesel fuel. And because Nissan Frontier Navara designed closer to SUV, this car is not tough enough in steep roads, type of road usually seen in mining operation.

However, its sparepart price are cheaper compare to other mini trucks spare part with the exeception of Isuzu D-Max.
