Nissan Evalia The Indonesia Next MPV King

PT. Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) launched its latest model of Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) Nissan Evalia. This the price ranges of between Rp. 145 million – Rp. 185 million this MPV is targeting the low end segment currently dominated by Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia.

Chief Operating Officer of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Toshiyuki Shiga said the MPV models are very popular in Indonesia. “I expect Evalia MPV models will take Nissan to the next level as the case that happened with Livina. This new model is built based on Indonesian market feedback,” he said when it held a media conference in Jakarta.

Nissan Evalia offers a spacious interior cabin of excellence and a lot of functionality at an affordable price. The car that can accommodate true seven passengers has three variants XV, SV and S. The Type 1.5L XV Evalia sold at a price of Rp. 185 million for the automatic version and Rp. 175 million for the manual version. The next level down 1.5L Evalia SV type sold at Rp. 172 million for automatic version and Rp. 162 million for the manual version. The entry level which only has manual version 1.5L Evalia S type sold at Rp. 145 million.

Nissan Evalia overall length is 4,400 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,850 mm tall. The total weight of the vehicle is 1,350 kg and has a ground clearance of 175 mm. Nissan Evalia has 5.2 m turning radius and equipped 4’ x 5JJ allow wheel with standard tire size of 165/R14. The front wheels using a suspension type Independent Strut with RCD added with Ripple Control Damper and rebound spring and rear suspension uses leaf springs to maintain passenger comfort.

Nissan Evalia has an engine capacity of 1.5 litter DOHV, 4 cylinder in line, 16 valve Dual CVTC engine code named HR15DE capable of producing 90 to 110 horsepower and dual variable valve injector and to generate 114 hp. Using similar engine to Nissan best seller car Nissan Livina, Nissan Evalia claimed to have a 20% better fuel efficiency compare to other in it class.

For the most luxurious models Evalia XV, Nissan offers some of optional features such as rear view camera, intelligent key, and AC double blower in the third row bench. For multimedia, there is a MID (Multi-Information Display) which provide a variety of information on a display such as fuel consumption and travel distance.

Compare to its nearest competitor Toyota Avansa, Nissan Evalia provides a more spacious space. Nissan Evalia is 4,400 mm x 1,695 mm x 1,850 mm while Toyota Avanza is 4,140 mm x 1,660 mm x 1,695. The pricing of Nissan Evalia however is closer to Toyota Rush rather than Toyota Avanza.

From the size and the look of the vehicles and more importantly the price, Nissan Evalia can do a lot in term of taking over the MPV market share in Indonesia.
