2013 All New Serena Is More Stylish And Advanced

At the beginning of this year PT Nissan Motor Indonesia launched the 2013 All New Nissan Serena. The MPV new design with “Happy Family” slogan is the third generation of Nissan Serena available in Indonesia.

This new model has been available in Japan since 2010 and although it is still boxy, it has large triangular windows that provide additional visibility but also gives the vehicle a modern look.

The most visible improvement is seen from the front with a large front grille and nicely curved Xenon head lamp emphasizing a more modern look. The front bumper has two large halogen fog lamps with the bumper itself flows throughout the cars body.

This body modification is claimed to reduce air resistance by approximately 8% compared to the current model, which improves fuel efficiency and more stable maneuverability.

The rear side of the car also gets a face lift. The famous rear end light that looks like the button on the old Nokia 6600, is now gone and replaced with an even bigger LED lamp starting from about the middle of the car all the way up to the top. There is also an LED high mount stop lamp at the top of the rear windows.

And just like other car in its class like Mazda Biante and Toyota Nav1, the 2013 Nissan Serena comes with double sliding doors with intelligence key which is wider that previous model.

The New Nissan Serena is powered by a 2 litter direct-injection MR20 engine offers both excellent fuel efficiency and high torque, which are realized, in part, through improved thermal efficiency by directly injecting the fuel into the cylinder. The engine is capable of providing power of 147 ps at 5,600 rpm with maximum torque of 206 Nm at 4,400 rpm.

Because the engine can achieves high low-to-middle speed torque, less accelerator pressure is needed, reducing excessive fuel consumption. The twin VTC (Valve Timing Control) also improves fuel efficiency by controlling intake and exhaust which reduce friction in various parts.

Equipped with a newly developed direct-injection engine with Xtronic CVT, the new Serena achieves both a 25% improvement in fuel economy over 2010 standards and SU-LEV certification, emitting 75% fewer exhaust emissions than 2005 standards in every grade.

All of this fuel efficiency improvement provides a best in its class fuel usage of more than 15 km /liter. The tank can hold 60 liter of gasoline fuel.

Other than the 2.0 X model the 2013 Nissan Serena is 4,770 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,865 mm wide which is bigger than both Toyota Nav1 at 4,600 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,850 mm tall and Mazda Biante at 4,715 mm long, 1,770 mm wide and 1,835 mm tall.

The interior of 2013 Nissan Serena is much bigger than its previous model thanks to the increase of the car size. The large front window as well as the triangle windows emphasizes the size of the interior even more.

The audio system is DVD 2DIN wide 6 inch touch screen display with Bluetooth connectivity and also a motorized 10 inch roof mounted LCD screen for rear entertainment system.

The chair configuration is highly versatile with fourteen variations of seating configurations with a wide sliding range of seats and Smart Multi Center Seat, which can serve as a table or an armrest. Since the Smart Multi Center Seat moves back and forth, passengers can walk through the 2nd row to the 3rd row seats despite that it is an 8-seater. The Smart-up Third Seat, at 3rd row seat allows the seat to be retracted at a lower level of 175mm lower than the previous model which enhance rear side windows visibility.
