2013 Mitsubishi Mirage Joined Indonesia New Economy Class Cars


Mitsubishi represented by PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors as its sole distributor in Indonesia has also joined the latest array of small and cheap cars that invaded the country recently. The All New Mirage completes Mitsubishi line up and will go head to head with Daihatsu Ayla and Toyota Agya.

Mitsubishi Mirage is not exactly a new car within Mitsubishi line up. The Mirage brand was created for the three doors hatchback version of the Mitsubishi Lancer. The Mirage is also known in several markets as Mitsubishi Colt. However, in 2000, The Mirage is completely stopped production and eventually replaced by the five doors Mitsubishi Colt in 2002.

Now Mitsubishi has decided to bring back the Mirage specifically with emerging market such as Indonesia and Asia in general in mind. The Mirage is 3,710 mm long, 1,665 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall with a ground clearance of 160 mm. This is slightly longer and wider but shorter compare to Toyota Agya at 3,600 mm long, 1,600 mm wide and 1,520 mm tall

However, the outline of its exterior does resemble the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport somewhat. Mitsubishi claimed that the exterior has an optimal styling to reduce air resistance over the entire body, providing a drag coefficient of just 0.27 which puts the Mirage among the best in its class when it comes to aerodynamicist.

The Mirage is powered by 1.2 liter 3A92 3-cylinder In Line 12 Valve DOHC which uses Mitsubishi Motors’ MIVEC variable valve timing system. The engine can produce a maximum power of 57 kW at 6,000 rpm and 100 Nm of twist at 4,000 rpm. The engine is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in less than 14 seconds while the fuel usage is around 21 km / liter. The fuel tank can hold 35 liter of gasoline fuel.

To encourage the driver to operate their vehicle economically, The Mirage is fitted with a 3-bar Eco Drive Assist display that indicates current fuel efficiency, along with a monitor which displays how long the engine has been stopped.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is available is 5 speed manual transmission with a top speed of 170 km / hour and INVEC III CVT automatic transmission with a top speed of 167 km/ hour.

Just like the Mitsubishi Outlander, The Mirage interior is colored piano black. There is an automatic air conditioner unit at the middle as well as 2 DIN Audio System with 2 speakers at the front door and 4 speakers throughout the cabin. There is also a USB port as well as an engine switch button behind the three spoke steering wheel. The multi information display at the combination meter cluster provides information on odometer, trip meter, fuel consumption and service reminder.

The Mirage is offered in a choice of eight richly-hued body colors which are Lemonade Yellow Metallic, Pop Green Metallic, Eisen Gray Mica, Medium Blue Mica, Red Metallic, White Pearl, Cool Silver Metallic and Black Mica.
