The All-New Mazda CX-5 – Will It Repeat Japan Success In Indonesia?

PT. Mazda Motor Indonesia (MMI) is launching the All-New Mazda CX-5, a compact crossover SUV that provides a preview of what Mazda line will look like from now on. The All-New Mazda CX-5 is the first model to fully adopt all elements of Mazda’s Skyactiv technology which includes Skyactiv G, Skyactiv-DRIVE, Skyactiv-BODY and Skyactiv -CHASSIS

The KODO-Soul of Motion design philosophy is striking in looks but also functional.

The Mazda CX-5 is intended to replace the old Mazda CX-7. Designed with crisp modern lines, equipped with more responsive handling, a beautifully trimmed interior, superior on-road dynamics, and more importantly a bigger inside, the Mazda CX-5 is certainly a well thought improvement.

This is reflected in the launching speech by Keizo Okue, President Director of MMI when introducing Mazda CX-5 as a car “that offers the performance and agility of an SUV, while still producing outstanding fuel efficiency is what we believe SUV enthusiasts here in Indonesia needs”

Since its first launch in 16 February 2012 in Japan, the All-New Mazda CX-5 has garnered positive acclaims and reviews from the global markets. In Japan, the annual sales target of the Mazda CX-5 was reached in only 45 days after its launch. In fact, Mazda Japan has had to increase their yearly Mazda CX-5 production twice to keep up with the demand.

Hoping its to do the same here, MMI is banking that Mazda CX-5 will be the third sales pillar for its Indonesian market, behind the Mazda 2 for passenger use and the BT-50 for commercial use. Okue also added that “MMI strongly believe that the All-New Mazda CX-5 will be warmly welcomed by the Indonesian market.”

KODO-Soul of Motion design theme which is applied for the first time for Mazda CX-5 will be what future Mazda cars look like. The animalistic design includes Bi-Xenon Headlamp with Auto Leveling & AFS, 19′ inch Alloy Rim with 225/55/R19 tire profile, rear combination lamp and sporty rear spoiler.

The Mazda CX-5 is 4,555 mm long, 1,840 mm wide and 1,670 mm tall. The car has 215 mm ground clearance. It is powered by a 2 litter inline 4 cylinder DOHC 16 valve engine. Its tank can hold 56 liter of gasoline fuel. The Mazda CX-5 features the all-new SKYACTIV-G 2.0L DOHC 4-cylinder engine with VVT. 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque are channeled through either the SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed manual (Standard on Sport) or SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed Sport automatic

The Interior can be in any combination by adjusting the available 40/20/40 dual split folding rear seatbacks depending on needs

The Mazda CX-5 offers a flexible seating for 5 people or up to 1.85 cubic meter of cargo carrying capacity or choose any combination in between by adjusting the available 40/20/40 dual split folding rear seatbacks depending on needs. The interior equipped with Mazda signature 3- spoke steering wheel with multi function switches, TFT multi-info display with navigation and Bluetooth function, illuminated meter panel and driver seat with 8-way power adjustment. It also features niceties like available Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming and HD radio. USB connectivity is also standard on all CX-5

On-the-road price for the All-New Mazda CX-5 Sport is Rp 375 million while the All-New Mazda CX-5 Touring is retailed for Rp 410 million. The All-New Mazda will be available starting in June 2012 at Mazda authorized showrooms across Indonesia in various colors such as: Sky Blue Mica, Zeal Red Mica, Crystal White Pearl Mica, Aluminum Metallic, Metropolitan Grey Mica, and Black Mica
