2013 Kia Sportage Has A Nice Design

One of the brands that successfully transform itself from one that is associated with cronyism in Indonesia into a respected automobile producer in Kia Motors. Although not many Kia line up available in Indonesia just yet, this will change in a near future. The one that do though deserve a review and one of them is the 2013 Kia Sportage.

Being one of the only 3 noncommercial Kia cars available in Indonesia the Kia Sportage does not really attract too much attention. In fact, many people mistaken in for Mitsubishi Outlander even though the Kia Sportage is much better priced.

The 2013 Kia Sportage has a striking design with a sloping roofline design that flows from front to back. The full-sectioned body has a visible shoulder line throughout the length of the car connecting the headlamps and tail lights. This line, together with its lowered body, creates a distinct sense of precision while the pronounced C pillar conveys an air of solidity and balance when viewed from the side.

The large grille at the front end display the distinct Kia signature tabbed grille completes with Kia logo. The Black bezel headlamps with LED daytime running light give an impression normally found in a more expensive car such as the Audi TT. The headlamps also have an escort function which allows the headlamp to stay lit for around 30 seconds after you lock the car.

 The dynamically sculpted hood, framed by a distinctive windshield design, adds to Sportage’s fresh appeal. The rear view offers a clean and contemporary look with dynamic tail lights set within the rear lift gate. The body wheel arch and side sill molding goes around the body to emphasize the sporty design.

The Sportage is powered by Theta II 2.0 D-CVVT Gasoline Engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) constructed from low weight aluminum. The engine is capable of providing maximum power of 166 ps at 6,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 20.1 kg/m at 4,600 rpm. The car is available in 5 and 6 speed manual transmission as well as 6 speed automatic transmissions with Sportmatic clutchless shifting. The sixth gear claimed to have added an extra dimension to cruising while the outo shift lock system prevents unintended accelerations.

The Kia sportage is 4,440 mm long, 1,885 wide and 1,635 tall which is a tad bit smaller than The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport at 4,665 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,720 mm tall.

The interior of Kia Sportage has a signature three-gauge instrument cluster set prominently within the dash with a lot of convenience and technology features. Those features include AM/FM/CD/MP3/Sat audio system with two tweeters and four door speakers to provide a superior audio experience. The audio system has standard auxiliary and USB audio input jacks with MP3 capability, Bluetooth®4 hands-free phone and streaming audio connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls allow drivers to keep their hands on the wheel at all times.

Convenience feature such as 12-volt power outlets in the passenger and cargo compartments, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, and six-way adjustable front seats are also available.

The 2013 Kia Sportage is available in eight color options which are Clear White, Bright Silver, Sand Track, Mineral Silver, Black Cherry, Techno Orange, Signal Red and Vintage Blue.
