Chevrolet Captiva SS 2011 Is Available Now

General Motors Autoworld Indonesia (GMAI) has recently launched a new variant of the Captiva named the Chevrolet Captiva SS 2011. The SS which signifies Super Sport is powered by 2.4L Ecotec DOHC gasoline engine.

The Double Continuously Variable Cam Phaser engine developed out of General Motors racing car technology is claimed to be more powerful and more fuel efficient.

The Ecotec engine was originally used by Opel Family II engine developed out of Russelsheim, Germany in 1970 and the first engine specifically designed for global market. In year 2000, the engine is adopted by GM and renamed Ecotec Family II Engine. This new Ecotec uses aluminum in its engine block which allows it to produce low emission with minimal vibration without loosing its power.

Ecotec can use 20 percent ethanol and highly flexible to suit different needs on different market. The engine has won many technology awards in various countries.

The LE-9 Ecotec engine equipped at the Captiva SS 2011 is one of the most common engines in any Chevrolet car and has a maximum power of 171 PS and maximum torque of 225 Nm. Currently, the Ecotec 2.4L engine powered many of GM cars such as Chevrolet Equinox, Buick LaCrosse, Buick Regal, Chevrolet Captiva and Opel Antara which is only available in Mexico

Chevrolet Captiva SS 2011 variant is complementing the already available Captiva Diesel VCDi and Diesel VCDi AWD. General Motors Indonesia says that the SS presence shows Captiva seriousness in working on the SUV segment in Indonesia.

Captiva SS also comes with HydraMatic powered 6 speed automatic transmission with smaller gear ration that provides faster and smoother acceleration as well as increasing the efficiency of overall drive systems performance.

HydraMatic 6 speed transmission allows Captiva SS to drive in high speed with low engine speed so that the fuel consumption becomes more efficient.

For interior the Chevrolet Captiva SS 2011 with luxury features such as new supervision meter with white, blue, green and red color combination. The sound quality provided by Arkamys 3D Surround Sound (SS) with clear quality sound staging. The head unit also offers easy connectivity with a USB port and auxiliary input allowing passengers to enjoy songs from the iPod, flash drives and external hard disc. Chevrolet Captiva SS 2011 also has a more luxurious and functional foldable keys.

Chevrolet Captiva SS 2011 comes with 6 color options such as Black Sapphire, Royal Gray, Sterling Silver, Sparkling Tan, Alpine White and Tornado Red.
